MK1 OPEN WATER WETSUIT
The blu_smooth MK1 wetsuit is a simple yet innovative design made entirely from Yamamoto #38 Smoothskin neoprene with SCS coating.
With it’s high quality construction the MK1 ‘punches well above it’s weight’ in delivering proven performance, quality and exceptional value for money.
Developed, designed and tested by Kevin Richards, the MK1 has had enjoyed enormous popularity amongst both triathletes and open water swimmers as well as notching up some notable results.
It’s maximum buoyancy, flexibility, warmth and comfort make it the ideal choice for open water swimming.
Buoyancy is the key to why you will swim faster in a wetsuit. Forget about ‘go faster stripes’; channels; ‘body positioning panels’ and other marketing ploys. Buoyancy is the key. Increased buoyancy puts you body in a more ideal, elavated position in the water and as a result you will swim easier and faster.
A buoyancy of a swimming wetsuit is largely dictated by the chest, abdomen and leg panels. Official triathlon competitions allow a maximum thickness of 5mm. This is the exact thickness of the MK1 wetsuit. Don’t settle for anything thinner!
The flexibility of a swimming wetsuit is vital to its performance. The simple yet innovative design of the MK1 eliminates unnecessary panels around the neck and shoulder area. This significantly reduces restriction on the arm reach when swimming; effectively eliminating the common issue of shoulder fatigue often associated with sleeved wetsuits.
Warmth and Comfort
Swimmers will remain both warm and comfortable enough in the MK1 wetsuit due to it’s many excellent features such as quality construction; the use of Yamamoto #38 fabric; stitched and glued seams; a smooth ultra-stretch inner lining; and a low cut collar.
